The solution was provided by evkgoof several posts ago. You have tapped on a popup and subscribed yourself to a spam calendar that is serving up “appointments” which are basically ads. Go to Mail in your Settings app. Then go to Accounts and then subscribed. Click on the rogue account and then Delete Account.

open you Mail application settings (Apple native) and check accounts that are set up - there should be a spam calendar added that you can remove. If you don't have the Mail app installed, download it from App Store; not having it installed does not prevent accounts from being added.
