Ventura + Adobe + Apple Silicon issues

I have an iMac running Ventura 13.2.1 without this issue, but on my new Apple (M1 chip) studio Pro, I can't have a Finder window open at the same time as an After Effects Project. I've been able to do this since Apple 8.5 OS. If I open a folder in a Finder window, After Effects hides. If I open After Effects window, finder hides. I cannot pull something into the project. Yes, I checked the Desktop & Dock settings. This, plus the annoying loss of representing Adobe icons (PDF, Illustrator) instead displaying as generic is just plain enraging. This is the worst Apple update in memory. No problem with Big Sur or Monterey, but Ventura just plain sucks. I'm not optimistic, but if anyone is experiencing the same thing with two windows open at once, chime in.
