How to select a table in Numbers

I need to transpose columns into rows. I see I need to first select my table to do this. I do not know how to select a table. I have copied the advice given on the Numbers troubleshooting page.

Tap the table, then tap in its top-left corner; three blue dots appear on the edges of the table when it’s selected.

I have tapped the table, then tapped the icon in the top-left corner. I do not see three blue dots. I am not able to transpose my data.

MacBook Air, macOS 13.2

"Tap" instructions usually apply to Numbers (and other apps) on iOS and iPadOS devices.

For Numbers on your MacBook Air, these instructions apply:

Click any cell to activate the table and display the Row and Column reference tabs above and on the left side of the table. For the purpose you want, this also selects the table.

In the menu bar, click Table to open the Table menu.

Then click the Transpose menu item to transpose the rows and columns.

The Menu will close auttomatically.

If you are on the iPad tap those concentric circles upper left, then Table Actions ... and then Transpose.
