Why am I not able to erase my MacBook Air?

I've looked at all of the instructions on apples website and there is no option to erase or do a factory reset on my computer.

To erase a MacBook Air, see the instructions in What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your Mac - Apple Support

Note that step 2 of that support article only applies to newer Macs. Skip that step and use the other steps instead for older Macs.

If you are having trouble erasing or resetting your MacBook Air, there are a few things you can try:

1. Check your operating system: Make sure that your MacBook Air is running a version of macOS that supports the erasure or reset process. The process for erasing or resetting your MacBook Air may vary depending on the version of macOS you are running.

2. Sign out of iCloud: Before you can erase your MacBook Air, you need to sign out of iCloud. To do this, go to System Preferences > iCloud, and click "Sign Out." If you are unable to sign out of iCloud, try disabling the Find My feature first.

3. Boot into Recovery Mode: Restart your MacBook Air and hold down the Command + R keys until the Apple logo appears. This will take you to the macOS Utilities screen, where you can select the "Disk Utility" option to erase your hard drive or the "Reinstall macOS" option to reset your MacBook Air to its factory settings.

4. Contact Apple Support: If you have tried all of the above steps and are still unable to erase or reset your MacBook Air, it may be a hardware issue. In this case, it's best to contact Apple Support for further assistance.
