Apple TV Stuck in Mandarin

Came out of the box in Chinese. Pushed through it to get it set up. Went in to try and change the language but it won’t let me. Any ideas?

A new unused (or reset) Apple TV device would have the language choice as its first setup question.

If it has a set language, then it was already setup before.

If you get a previously used device, then it is recommended to reset it to factory settings first. Reset or restore your Apple TV to its factory settings - Apple Support

You can do so without reading Chinese. Go the to Settings app on the Home Screen; the gray tile with the sprockets wheel icon. Next, find System in the list of Settings options, likely the second-to-last in the list. On the next screen, find the Reset option, also the second-to-last in that list. The next page will be confirmation of this choice, and you should be presented with two red buttons: the top one is Reset, the second one is Reset and Update (the bottom one is for Cancel).

If you want to change the interface language, then you can do so without reading Chinese. How do I change the language on my Apple TV? It is Chinese - Apple Community. Go the to Settings app on the Home Screen; the gray tile with the sprockets wheel icon. Next, find General in the list of Settings options, first/top option in the list. On the next screen, scroll down to the 8th option for Apple TV language; the image to the left should change into a globe icon. The next page will show currently configured languages, and a option to add another language (bottom option). Next, select a language from the language list. Each language will be listed its own language, with the translation below that in the current system language. Once selected, confirm with the top button to make the change.
