Shortcuts Personal Automation: Wifi Trigger

Why do some automation trigger options have the “Ask Before Running” toggle, and others do not? This seems completely random and illogical.

I wanted to set up a personal automation that enables Airplane mode when I connect to my home WiFi and disables Airplane mode when I disconnect from home WiFi. Seems pretty basic and straightforward. Nope. Apple forces you to have to confirm running the shortcut when it triggers, and since I miss seeing these prompts, the shortcuts fail and never run.

Triggers like turning on/off Do Not Disturb or connecting or disconnecting CarPlay have the “Ask Before Running” toggle so that you can disable the prompt and just have automations automatically run. Why don’t all the triggers have the toggle to turn off prompting? Maybe it’s just me, but it seems silly for something that is supposedly an “automation” force you to respond to a prompt before it runs. How is that automatic???

I see your point, but we have WiFi calling setup on our iPhones, and it’s actually more reliable where we are because cell coverage is very weak and calls using just cellular are very hit or miss. My point was for Apple to provide the toggle switches to choose whether to be asked/prompted or notified on a consistent basis for all triggers, and to be safe, set the default option to being on (Ask before running) like it currently is for the Focus trigger.

Otherwise, most of the triggers end up being somewhat useless, and when they fail, users are frustrated and end up not using what could be a very powerful and helpful resource, the Shortcuts app.

Not all Automations can be executed 100% automatically. There is probably a reason, but only Apple knows it. In this case, it could be because all connections are cut when you log on to Wi-Fi. This can be a problem if you forget it - and quickly need to make or receive an emergency call, therefore it must be confirmed. This is just what I think.
