Same! It's unbelievable that we cannot mute a specific app in 2024 (the issue is discussed for a very long time)! Today with in-app adds, it is totally impossible to listen music when using the iPhone. Apple blocks this feature exactly for this reason: we have to consume adds! I'll move to Samsung for my next phone.
Good luck with that. See this post about muting ads downloaded from the Google Play Store:

Ads are provided by the developer to pay for your free download. If you do not want ads, you will find that most offer in-app purchases to eliminate the ads. Developers have to pay each year to have their app in the store and it also cost them time and money to create and update the apps. The ad is one way developers can allow the app to be downloaded and played without costing you any money, but you will need to deal with the ads. It is unreasonable to expect the developers to pay for everything, just so you can download and play their content for free. The ad may be an inconvenience for you, but if the developer never got paid, you would not even have the app to download in the first place.
If you would like ad free games to play, you can also subscribe to Apple Arcade. None of the apps offered there have any ads and there are also no in-app purchases.
