5g on iphone xr

will a 5g sim card work on my xr ? in terms of data, and calls ?? or it wont work at all because its not compatible???

Sorry no. IPhone model series supporting 5G connections are 12, 13, 14 and SE(3rd generation).

It's a matter of hardware compatibility.
