I haven't changed my iPhone 13 battery and I keep getting the 'non-genuine' battery message

I haven't changed my 1.5 year old iPhone 13 battery ever and I keep getting the 'non-genuine' battery message. The iOS is updated. Not able to install 16.4.1. I went to the Apple Store Genius Bar yesterday. The technician said my battery had 89% life on it and he didn't believe me when I said I've never changed my battery, nor have I needed to. Is this a glitch with apple updates or a real concern?

Is it saying nongenuine, or Unknown Part?

Per About genuine iPhone batteries - Apple Support

An Unknown Part message will appear if the battery installation is incomplete or if the battery:

  • Was replaced with a nongenuine battery
  • Was already used or installed in another iPhone
  • Isn't functioning as expected

So if it’s the unknown part error it doesn’t necessarily mean nongenuine, but can mean the battery is failing.

here’s a screen shot of the msg. The apple Genius Bar wouldn’t open my phone to check the battery unless I agreed to pay for the service. The msg also says the issue may be that the battery is not functioning properly. I’m going to go back to the Genius Bar to get more answers. I troubleshooted w support over the phone for 45 minutes yesterday. One tech person suggested that I might try a forced reset. Her thinking was that the most recent software update

may have corrupted just my phone, a reset would allow me to download the most recent update w/o corruption. Before I chatted w support yesterday I was successful downloading 16.4.1. I haven’t tied a forced reset. I will later today. Currently, my phone is holding a charge but periodically turns off (black screen) for 30 sec then turns back on.

thanks for your thoughts!
