Apple Mail Sender Confusion

My wife and I have separate Macs on our home network, and we share the same primary gmail email address in an account under my name. We use Apple Mail as our mail client. However, when I send email from my Mac, it shows my wife as the sender, and when she sends one from her computer, it shows me as the sender. Where does the sender name reside on each computer? I've checked through Settings on my computer and only see my name. I've seen some other postings on the community discussion about this, but haven't found anything useful. For what it's worth, I looked up both our names up in Contacts on my Mac; she appears twice, and on one record, three cards are listed, one labeled Contacts and the other two labeled for my two iCloud accounts. Under my name, there are seven listings, none of which show any cards.

I should also add that emails sent from my iPhone using Mail also show her as the sender.

Any idea how I can get the right sender name on the correct computer?

I think you have to create a contact for yourself in Contacts.

Thanks for the suggestions. I followed the suggestions in MacWorld article, particularly checking what name was on each of my internet accounts. All of them are in my name, so I think the secret lies within Contacts. However, and please correct me if I'm wrong, since the information in Contacts, like Mail, Calendar, etc. is stored in iCloud and is accessible from all our Apple devices, I'm wondering if it does any good to modify the information there, since it seems that if I could change the primary contact card to my name, then emails that my wife sends from her computer would also show me as the sender if she's using our shared gmail account. I seem to remember that in Outlook, the sender's name resides in the program's local preferences file, and I was hoping that was the case with Mail as well. I'm not so sure it is, though.
