Why do AirPods keep disconnecting while sharing audio?

I have the same exact issue. Put in Airplane mode, turn on only Bluetooth, and it works. It’s a bug in how the phone handles notifications. I assume Apple is aware of it.

Just an update on my side. Last night I used my wife's phone to play on 2 airpods with success. The process is annoying though.

I paired my airpods to her phone (White button on the case) instead of "Share Audio" where I approve it on my phone. This would work, but every time I received a text message, or did anything on my personal phone with an audio que it would disconnect. I then turned my phone on airplane mode, so that any incoming next messages wouldnt work (And disabled bluetooth, wifi) this was the only way I was able to play audio on two apple headphones without constant interruptions. Listened about 45 minutes to an audio book.

Its not a viable process, and it worked much more seemlessly in the past. But for some reason if my phone gets an audio chime its looking for my airpods, and takes control (I dont actually hear the chime, just noticed the event occur). Some kind of persistent connection is occuring.

Doesn't seem to be device specific, I'm having the same problem with Audible books which is something my wife and I would do often. After a 6 weeks of trying with no luck we both decided to upgrade to the latest Iphone 15 Pro Max and I upgraded her Gen 1 Ipod Pro's to Gen 3(With USB-C Charging) (I have Gen 2 with Thunderbolt Plug). Still same problem with completely new devices for both of us. (I kept my same airpods, thats the only thing that remains the same, 3 new devices)

i’m having the same issue, and no matter how many times I reconnect it still does this. i upgraded my phone and the problem still persists.

Anyone have solutions of this issues? As I’m facing it too

Happening here too. Whatever pair I connect second disconnects every few minutes

Same here! My AirPods 2 (main) connect but when my partner’s pair of AirPods 2 connect they will work but will disconnect after a minute or two. Super frustrating! Please fix, Apple!

Annoying as ****! Connects fine, works for 5 min, then disconnects. We gave up on this feature. Not not ready for prime time ..

Share air pod,accept, shows up , then disappears. Remove/add again keeps disappearing
