How do I stop my HomePods from automatically updating?

It feels like my HomePods update on a weekly basis—when I am actively using them. This most often occurs while playing music which results in a very long period of silence while they are updating. This happened again yesterday in the middle of a party which is less than ideal. If it is not possible to disable automatic updates, is it at least possible to prevent them from updating while I am using them?

Yes you can disable this

  1. Open the Home app.
  2. Tap or click the More button , then Home Settings  > Software Update > disable it

It shouldn’t be updating itself while in use though
