Greetings jasonfromstrongsville,

In order to use AirPlay, you'll need to follow these steps:

  1. "Make sure your Mac and Apple TV are on the same network.
  2. Click Control Center  in the menu bar, click the Screen Mirroring icon , then choose your Apple TV.
  3. If asked, enter a four-digit code on your Mac.
  4. To set whether your desktop mirrors or extends your Mac screen, click the Screen Mirroring icon , then choose Mirror Built-in Display or Use As Separate Display." Use AirPlay to stream what’s on your Mac to an HDTV

We hope this helps!

Sincerely.

Hi jasonfromstrongsville,

The option for HD resolution or 4K resolution will depend on the connection and internet speeds.

I know how to use screen mirroring. I wanted to know if it’s going to mirror the MacBookscreen’s HD resolution or if it will mirror the native 4K resolution of the video file. Do I want to mirror or extend the MacBook screen? Do the M1 Mac’s have Airplay 2 on them. I think I’ve read thst unless I use a VGA to hdmi or hdmi to whstever the video output port is on Mac it’ll only be in HD. If it relies on my internet download speed, I’m fine. If the video quality is dependent on my upload speed, I’m afraid I’m locked to HD.

I have great download speed of 300mbps but upload speed is only 10mbps. Will I need a 15mbps upload speed( as is typical minimum download speed needed for Netflix 4K? I assumed Apple would have it’s own wireless transmission signal to upload 4K video direct from the device and not rely on your upload speed, not sure how VLC player is a higher tech option for sending 4K videos you have than a trillion dollar tech company. Pretty big let down & fed passing until you hsve a proprietary system to send video without bandwidth limitations, as I’m not sure how many people have a 15-20mbps upload internet speed.👎🏻👎🏻. Does a 2021 or 2022 MacBook have better tech that’s non reliant on upload speed for 4K Airplay( idk if Airplay 2 is more modern in its approach.
