iPhone 6, iOS 12

Sorry, YouTube requires iOS 14 or later.

iOS 12.5.7 is the latest iOS security update for iPhone 6.

Go to Settings -> General -> Software Update -> Download and Install (if you haven't already done that).

iPhone 6 can’t be update to a higher iOS (13 and later).

Most apps require iOS 13.4 or later.

Considering a newer type of iPhone?

Read this before you buy a newer type iPhone.

None of the steps you listed will resolve the issue. If you're going to insist on using ChatGPT to compose answers, you still need to check them for accuracy. ChatGPT makes things up or misunderstands a lot of things. And it was very wrong this time. You cannot install YouTub on an iPhone 6. Please read the post immediately above yours to find out why.

Also, it's good practice to note when the original question was posted and to look at the earlier answers to see, as is the case in this thread, if the question was already answered.

If you're having trouble installing the YouTube app on your iPhone 6 running iOS 12, here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

  1. Check compatibility: Ensure that your iPhone 6 and iOS version are compatible with the latest version of the YouTube app. As of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, YouTube was supported on iOS 12. However, it's possible that YouTube may have dropped support for older devices or iOS versions since then.
  2. Restart your iPhone: Sometimes a simple restart can fix temporary glitches. Press and hold the power button until the "slide to power off" option appears. Slide it to turn off your device, wait a few seconds, and then press and hold the power button again to turn it back on.
  3. Clear storage: If your iPhone's storage is almost full, it may hinder the installation of new apps. Try freeing up some space by deleting unnecessary files, apps, or media.
  4. Check network connection: Make sure you have a stable internet connection before attempting to download and install any app. Connect to a Wi-Fi network or enable cellular data if needed.
  5. Update iOS: Ensure that your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS 12. To check for updates, go to "Settings" > "General" > "Software Update." If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install it.
  6. Sign out and sign back in: If you previously had the YouTube app installed but are facing issues, try signing out of your Apple ID and then signing back in. To do this, go to "Settings" > "[Your Name]" > "iTunes & App Store," tap on your Apple ID, and select "Sign Out." Afterward, sign back in using your Apple ID credentials.
  7. Reset network settings: Resetting network settings can help resolve any network-related issues that may be affecting app installations. To do this, go to "Settings" > "General" > "Reset" > "Reset Network Settings." Note that this will remove saved Wi-Fi passwords, so make sure you have them handy if you use multiple networks.
  8. Contact Apple support: If none of the above steps work, you may want to reach out to Apple support for further assistance. They can provide more specific troubleshooting steps tailored to your device and situation...
