Transferring info between devices

I have an aging MacBook Pro that I bought in 2015 which is getting old as you can probably see. I was wondering if there was a way I could transfer some downloads from that computer to my new IPad Air 5th gen. I purchased a keyboard for my iPad Air and was going to try using my iPad more than my old MacBook because it is probably in the process of being phased out by Apple. If anyone could tell me if transferring some downloads from my Mac to my iPad Air I would really appreciate it.

Best solution is Airdrop.

Alternatively, try iDrive, Onedrive or Google Drive. Premium account has more GB room.

As you have a Mac, perhaps the easiest method and most straightforward method to transfer files, data and documents would be to use iCloud:

What kind of files? Compatible video files can be dragged to the iPad using Finder. Other files can be transferred in other ways including via email.

That is useful info but forgive me because I don’t know a lot about iCloud as you can probably tell. How do I send certain things to iCloud as in some documents and downloads which are in the hundreds on my Mac that are the only ones I would want to put in iCloud and anything else could just stay on my Mac?
