Screen flickering then freezing when logging in, No hardware issues found
Hey everyone!
I am running into flickering issues leading to almost freezing.
Macbook Pro M1
Ventura 13.3.1 (22E261)
Memory 16GB
Issue:
- Screen flickers every time I unplug it from the display and try to log in, freezes, nothing happens or gets superslow unless I restart the system (this never happened before and started randomly out of nowhere in the past few weeks)
- Sometimes it gets quite slow when I am switching from my Macbook Air M2 system and/or using Zoom-like tools to screen share (this also started recently)
What I tried:
- Restarting solves it every time but it's annoying to do it, especially when I have to jump on a work call
- Hardware diagnostics: found no hardware issues with ADP000 code
- Changed settings to turn off 'True tone' today - so let's see but it shouldn't happen if you pay quite a bit for a high-end product
My thoughts:
- I don't think it's a hardware issue because the screen is fine unless I press the enter key after entering the password or use TouchID
- It is to do something with the software but can't figure out what it is and why it happens when I unplug it from the monitor
- Why it gets super slow when I am switching over to this system from Macbook Air and then sharing screen?
- I admit, I have quite a few chrome windows with multiple tabs open but that was never an issue before
I would really appreciate it if someone can help out, please! Sorry for the grainy gif, but hope it gives some idea.
