iPhone battery won’t charge after water issue

My daughter had her phone on a wet table the other night and even though there was a message that water was detected, she plugged it in.

The phone didn’t charge all night, and we ended up having to take it to a phone repair shop. They placed it in the dehydrator machine for 4 hours and were able to get it charged.

They warmed her to never let the battery get low because the phone may not ever turn back on.

As soon as we got home, she tried plugging it in, but it won’t charge at all.

I am trying to back it up, but it’s taking over an hour and just draining the battery.

Any fixes??

Keep the charger plugged in to the phone and try to back up, so the backup will be up to date.

It's clear that the damage has been serious. Make an appointment at the Apple Store or take the phone to an authorized Apple Service shop.

Unfortunately, water damage is not covered under AppleCare, so you won't know about the actual cost until you get the bad news. Please be prepared. In most cases, the phone will need to be replaced.

If you really want to take a chance, an independent repair shop might be able to diagnose it and repair what's damaged.

At this point the only fix that Apple would do is to replace it for a standard replacement fee. Most likely the liquid contact indicators have shown direct contact with water. At that point Apple or their authorized repair shops consider it damaged beyond repair - even if it otherwise works.

My iPhone 13 pro max I used it inside the swimming pool for 1minute. After I removed it it show no SIM card inserted.

I switch it off over night From 10pm to 8:am now it’s switching on but I can’t charge it.

also it’s showing important battery information on the battery screen. How can I charge back my phone?

You actually used the phone, which is NOT waterproof in a swimming pool? Your phone has been water damaged and Apple will not offer warranty support nor try to fix a water damaged iPhone.

Schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar, for evaluation, but be prepared to purchase a replacement iPhone.

To prevent liquid damage, avoid:

  • Swimming or bathing with your iPhone
  • Exposing your iPhone to pressurized water or high velocity water, such as when showering, water skiing, wake boarding, surfing, jet skiing, and so on
  • Using your iPhone in a sauna or steam room
  • Intentionally submerging your iPhone in water
  • Operating your iPhone outside the suggested temperature ranges or in extremely humid conditions
  • Dropping your iPhone or subjecting it to other impacts
  • Disassembling your iPhone, including removing screws

Minimize exposing your iPhone to soap, detergent, acids or acidic foods, and any liquids — for example, perfume, insect repellent, lotions, sunscreen, oil, adhesive remover, hair dye, and solvents. If your iPhone comes into contact with any of these substances, follow the instructions to clean your iPhone.
