MDM - Certificate push notifications - renew not possible?

We use an MacOs Server on montery. In the profile manager we have a certification for the push Messages for the communication with the iPhones.


We have to renew this certification, but if we try it the server tell us, that isn't possible to renew the certification. We need a new one.


And if we try to make that online, they write that we have to use the server software to managed the certification.

Get Started

To get a new certificate for a OS X server, use your OS X server administration tools. ( No button nothing )


MacOs:

The currently certification couldn't be renew. You have to create a new one and configurate your device again.


-> How can we renews the push notification certifikate?

-> How can we get a new certification?


And if I use another iCloud account I could create a new one, but I need a file?

Which file, how I can get that?

The first thing to note is DO NOT use another Apple ID. If you do, your devices will drop out of management and you will need to re-enroll everything.


If you have the Apple ID password, you should be as easy as:


1: Open Server.app

2: Select Profile Manager from the list

3: Press the Configure button in the Settings section


4: Press the Renew... button. Please note to make sure the push cert is not yet expired



5: This should open a dialog that contains your Apple ID. Enter the password for the Apple ID.


6: This should renew the Push Cert. Confirm the new expiration date and press Done



Now, a cautionary note. Please be aware that Apple has dropped support for Profile Manager. Do not attempt to update the server to Ventura. You should consider planning to move to another MDM. However, Apple does not have a published migration path so you are on your own. Existing devices will need to be dropped from management in Profile Manager and then re-enrolled into the new MDM.


Hope this is helpful. Don't let the push cert expire. Make sure you are renewing and not replacing.
