iPhone 12 mini camera not focusing

My iPhone 12 mini is having trouble focusing in 1x. It will focuse in .5, and very close to the subject. It will sometimes make a shutter type noise, but not focuse after.

To start, we suggest making sure you're running the latest iOS version. Updates often fix unexpected behavior: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support


Then, try these steps to see if you're able to get the camera to focus:


  1. "Open Camera.
  2. Tap the screen to show the automatic focus area and exposure setting.
  3. Tap where you want to move the focus area."
