Stop Macbook display dimming and turning off

For what should be a basic setting I'm amazed that I'm finding it this difficult to change... some of the older guidance points to settings under Energy saver which doesn't seem to exist any more.

Essentially I'm looking for a way to keep my MacBook Air (M1, Ventura) screen on with preview open for a PDF without it dimming after a minute or so and then going black, when the charging cable is not connected.

"Turn display off after..." setting doesn't save New MacBook Air M2 2022, macOS Monterey here. I go into System Preferences > Battery > Battery > Turn display off after > a slide bar from 1 minute to never. The default is 1 minute, I slide it over to 15 minutes. I close the System Preferences window. Leave. The display turns off after 1 minute. I go back in System Preferences to check, the slide bar is back at 1 minute. I then slide it to "Never". I leave, the display turns off after 1 minute. I check again, the slide bar is back at 1 minute. How come my preference isn't saved and it always goes back to the default of 1 minute? Suggestions please.

Brightness of external display changes on its own even though "automatically adjust brightness" is off I have a Macbook pro running Ventura and an LG UltraFine external display. I routinely calibrate the LG display using Colorite. Before calibration I check the display brightness and it is always set to the max. I need to manually adjust it back to the correct setting before doing the calibration. Next time I do to calibrate.. samething! Sometime since the last calibration the brightness has been set to maximum, which means at some point calibration became meaning less. "Automatically Adjust Brightness"is off, yet this is still happening. How can I prevent the brightness from changing on it's own?

Studio display brightness can't be adjusted from control center Hello, I use my Studio Display with a MacBook Pro 13-inch, 2020 (Intel i5), macOS Ventura 13.0.1. When I try to adjust the display brightness manually, sometimes it is possible to do so from the control center, but sometimes the brightness control is grayed out and disabled. The display does respond to brightness adjustments, but only from the "Displays" menu on System Settings. Does anyone know a fix for that?
