Problem with the screen after taking a screenshot on Macbook Air M3

After taking a screen shot with Shitf-Command-5 the area of the screen shot remains light while the rest of the screen remains dim. The only way to get rid of it is to log out or reboot the computer.

Taking another screenshot will not capture the problem. So it seems to be only a screen issue.

Thanks for any advice how to get rid of this problem on my new computer?

Perhaps you are recording your screen (as video) rather than capturing a screenshot image? Hit Command-Shift-5, the green box options are still images and the red box options are video.

If you have a video option selected, the button at the right will say Record instead of Capture, and you'll get that box there until you stop the recording (by clicking the Stop button in the menu bar, or pressing Command-Control-Esc).
