If you upgrade your Mac to macOS 13 Ventura, you can use the built-in duplicate detection in Photos.

The scan for duplicates needs a lot of processing. Even for a moderately sized library with only fifty-thousand items or so, it may take several weeks, before we will be seeing a Duplicates album in the sidebar.
If your Mac cannot be upgraded to the most recent system version, you will have to sort the photos by the date to see duplicates. side-by-side or you can use third-party apps to find duplicates. But be careful which apps you use. Some can damage your photos library and other, free apps may just be malware, stealing your data.
