Local network access

Hi

I am trying to set up wifi mesh devices using my iphone and have tried a few but keep hitting the same issue - the devices can always be found but when it comes to linking to their local network it's unable to do so. I read some stuff and saw that it could be because I need to grant local network access to the device software either Google Home or Netgear (same issue for both) but the two apps aren't appearing in my local network list AND there's no option when I go to the apps in Settings for me to add them to the local network - the only options I get are Location, Bluetooth, Camera, Siri/search and background app refresh - I'm going round in circles can anyone help!
