Local Network request.

I use I Nextbase dashcam. I connect it to my iPhone using My Nexbase Connect app.

It connects via Bluetooth with no problem. But to download video it sets up it own Wi-Fi connection, this is where I have the problem. My phone will not connect to the Wi-Fi.

My wife's iPhone 8 will connect so will my iPad air with no problem.

Looking in to it and contacting Nextbase, it seems the app needs to have access to local networks. On the iPhone 8 and iPad it is in the local networks. But some reason on my iPhone 14 it's not.

All the devices have IOS 16.5.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app numerous time.

Any suggestions, please.

This seems to be where the problem is. The left one is my iPhone 14, the right is my iPad. As you can see on the iPad Local Network access is allowed, not on the iPhone.

Mobile Data makes no difference on or off.

Hi chrispy1953,

Just to confirm, do you have any issues connecting that device to other Wi-Fi networks, or just that specific one? Do you receive any error messages when this happens? If so, what does the error say?

The above details will help us plan how to proceed.

If you're unable to connect to Wi-Fi on your device, please check out this link, which has some information that may help correct Wi-Fi connection issues: If your iPhone or iPad won't connect to a Wi-Fi network

1. Make sure that your router is on and that you're within range
If you're too far from your Wi-Fi router, you can't get a signal, so make sure that you're within range.

2. Make sure that Wi-Fi is on and that you can see your network
Go to Settings > Wi-Fi and make sure that Wi-Fi is on. Tap the name of your Wi-Fi network to join. A blue checkmark beside a network name means that you're connected.
If you see Auto Join disabled under Settings > Wi-Fi > [Your Network], tap the More Info button and then tap Auto-Join.
An iPhone showing the Wi-Fi screen. There's a blue a checkmark next to the Wi-Fi network's name.

3. If asked, enter your Wi-Fi password
If asked, enter the password for your Wi-Fi network. Get help if you don't know your password.
Even if you enter the correct password, you might see an "unable to join the network" message or an "incorrect password" message. Restart all of your devices, then try to enter your password again.

4. Check for issues with your Wi-Fi network
If iOS or iPadOS detects an issue with your Wi-Fi connection, you might see a Wi-Fi recommendation under the name of the Wi-Fi network that you're connected to. For example, you might see the alert "No Internet Connection." To get more information, tap the Wi-Fi network.

5. Check your cables and connections
If you still can't connect to your network or get online, make sure that your router is connected to the modem and turned on.

6. Restart
Restart your iOS or iPadOS device.
Restart your router and cable or DSL modem by unplugging the device and then plugging it back in.
After you restart each device, see if you fixed the issue.

7. Reset your network settings
If you're using iOS or iPadOS 15 or later, tap Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
If you're using iOS or iPadOS 14 or earlier, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before.

Get more help
* If you're connected to a Wi-Fi network but you can’t get online, try to use your Wi-Fi network on other devices. If you can't get online using your other devices, there might be a service outage. Call your cable company or internet provider for help.
* Try connecting to a Wi-Fi network in a different location. If your device can connect, you need to get help with your Wi-Fi network. If your device can't connect to any Wi-Fi networks, contact Apple.
* Update your Wi-Fi router with the latest firmware and make sure that the router supports your Apple product. For more information, contact the router's manufacturer.

Thanks!

It is just this device. The dashcam connects to the phone by Wi-Fi to download videos.

As I said originally, My wife iPhone 8 and My iPad connect but not my iPhone 14.

In the settings it says it's connected but the app says it's not.

I thought it was the app at first, but I'm using the same app on the other 2 device with no problems.

I have reset my iPhone and it has made no difference.

I'm having the *exact* same problem with the MyNextbase app and connecting my dash cam via WiFi to my iPhone 14 Pro (running iOS 16.6). In the iPhone's WiFi networks menu, it shows that I'm connected to the dash cam, but the app continually says it fails to connect the dash cam to my iPhone via WiFi. I have no problem with an iPhone 13 (running iOS 15.6.1).

Likewise, I checked the MyNextbase app permissions, and the Local Networks option isn't available. I believe this is the root of the problem.

I've contacted Nextbase about this, and they've been surprisingly responsive. Since yesterday (8/2) we've discovered that Local Networks isn't available as an option in the app permission settings. The latest from Nextbase is that they asked me whether I use a VPN, anti-virus software, or CarPlay. I said I use CarPlay, but it's wired, and the issue persists whether I'm using CarPlay or not. I haven't heard back from Nextbase yet, so hopefully they'll have a suggestion soon.

Local Network request.
