Convert text to table in pages on MacBook Air M2 chip

Can't understand why it is SO difficult to make something that SHOULD be so easy so hard to figure out, or find info on. I have a list of names I want to put into a table then alphabetize. How can I do this without having to type all 425 names and move them manually?

If this is a single column of names, then select and copy to the clipboard. Insert a table, and click once on the first cell where you want the list of names inserted, and paste. Then click the A column and choose Sort Ascending.

If you want first and last names in Col A and Col B respectively, separate them with a single tab, and then follow the instructions in the first paragraph. Pages will automatically add as many rows as it needs.
