AirTag chirping

Hi there, I have an AirTag on my pet and have listed the locations that are allowable for her to be at, and the AirTag continues to chirp when my phone is away from her. How can I stop this chirping?

Does your daughter have her own Apple ID, separate from yours? Did you set up this AirTag with that ID? Did she also set up the locations where the AirTag can be located without it notifying her?

Ok, regardless of all of that. If an AirTag, associated with someone else's Apple ID is NOT near their phone, it will start chirping to alerts others of its presence. It just won't notify them.

The bottom line? Although it seems like a good idea, using an AirTag with a pet is generally not an ideal situation for this purpose for a number of reasons ... you are seeing one of them. Instead, she should look into a third-party GPS "tracking" devices for her dog.

The AirTag in question is on my dog, the AirTag is connected to my daughters iPhone, and she is out of town, but the address where we live (and where the dog was) is one of the addresses in the allowable addresses for the dog to be at. Last night her tag chirped on two separate occasions. My iPhone did not give me any kind of an alert.

That’s really a bad feature of the AirTag. If I have one hidden in my luggage and someone steals my luggage, the chirping noise will alert them to throw away or disable the AirTag before I have a chance to find my luggage. Apple should’ve considered this Negative feature.

Yes, my daughter has her own Apple ID, and set up the AirTag under her ID, and yes, she did list the addresses the dogs AirTag is allowed to be at. thanks for your reply.
