Unable to transfer funds to Apple Savings account after adding external bank account.

Hi, thanks. Passwords are all different. It’s the Apple ID email that was different. I tried changing it so the email address is same as my bank account but still won’t let me add. Looks like GS customer support would need to manually call my bank and verify. Thanks

The email is the user name for your Apple Card/iCloud account. Your Apple Card is tied forever to that account, but the email address (user name) can be changed, but Goldman Sachs is not able to change your email (user name) for your Apple ID/iCloud account. Not sure if that makes sense.

I am having the same problem. I want to transfer funds from my external bank account into Apple savings. I have the iPhone, approval for the Master Card, and have set up Apple Savings. I entered my bank info into the app but now there are no further instructions on how to transfer funds from the bank to Apple Savings. It appears that this may be Apple's way to force you to use the credit card it you want to accrue the high yield savings. Any thoughts? I'm about to give up and invest in a different high yield savings bank online. There are several which have a higher rate than Apple and a much easier setup system.

I can transfer money from my other banks by adding GS as an external bank but that doesn’t solve the problem. I think Apple rushed this feature and their wallet app doesn’t support the two most important functions - Withdraw and Add Money. Maybe 6.4.2 is the solution. Fingers crossed!

Another example of Apple releasing something not ready and eroding further confidence they are able or care too deliver the quality their margins continue to suggest they have. This savings account effort is over for me. Don’t need the frustration.

I just waited on hold for almost 2 hours to verify my external account. As soon as an operator answered, I was almost immediately disconnected. Not waiting on hold again. I’ll keep my cash in my American Express HYS account. Guess Apple doesn’t want my $$.

Yes! My test amount showed basically instantly. That was on 5/1/23. My test will be complete once I can withdrawal it back to my external account. The money is still not available to withdrawal today on 5/4/23. The small print does say up to 5 business days though for funds to show as available to withdrawal.

I called support too, and no one there can help with anything. They don't even know their own product. If these issues are going on, and people only moved to Apple for the yield, might as well move money to Robinhood which is offering 4.65% on unvested funds (and is super easy to use).

I couldn't connect a robinhood account to apple card. Apple support contacted JPM, but they couldn't confirm my robinhood spending account was serviced by JPM. Apple support tried contacting Robinhood, but they only provide chat capabilities.

I checked both off my list.

I feel Apple / Goldman Sachs just jumped in to this with little to no time for the potential issues that may arise. To make matters worse their staff isn't properly trained, so misinformation has been spread by the customer care associates.

ArtPZ — I’ve responded to multiple posters in this thread, but never you. I’m not sure which post of mine you’re responding to. I have no frame of reference to what checking both off your list means. I’ll be happy to try and help you resolve your issue, but for the sake of clarity and expediency I suggest your make an entirely new thread and not continue the multi page post that now has multiple people responding to multiple comments.

@DISCH9075 Yes, that is one option. However, proceeding that way only lets you send funds from your current bank to Goldman, but not vice-versa. When you try to transfer funds back to your bank it will not let you.

You’re still not understanding, at least what your writing doesn’t reflect that you do. Use your external account to pull funds from Apple Savings. Do not use the Apple Savings app to try to push funds to your external.

If I’m misunderstanding what you’re writing I’m sorry. Check with your external bank to find out why, after they verified, you can’t pull funds from Apple Savings.

Checking. I followed the instructions on Bank account and just waiting for the transfer. I won’t to make sure it works both ways before I transfer a larger sum. Everything looks good so far! This is my first time using an online savings account.

Hmm, do you work for GS or Apple? Kind of sounds like it.

Just because they are separate companies does not mean Apple has no influence. Apple typically has a great deal of influence on the way its vendors conduct their business. Especially for something like this, which is actually Apple-branded.

I think what people including myself are upset about is that the feature does not work as advertised. Performing transfers via my bank’s own app is clunky and slow (In my case, I don’t think it’s even possible to initiate an Apple Savings withdrawal from my bank’s side, but I’ll need to confirm that). If I knew I’d need to do that I never would have bothered with this.

Additionally, the GS customer service experience is terrible and below the standards for a product with the Apple brand applied to it.
