Apple does not provide any self repair kits for the 2017 models. The battery is glued onto the bottom of the palm rest & trackpad. In fact, for a 2017 model, Apple does not even have the Apple Authorized Service Provider replace just the battery....they must replace the entire Top Case Assembly which is a major and very difficult repair involving lots of fragile & easily damaged items.
Here is a link to an Apple article regarding the Apple Self Repair Program:
Self Service Repair - Apple Support
The article links to another page which will clearly note which models are allowed for the Apple Self Repair Program which can be officially purchased. There are only a couple Apple Silicon laptops which are part of the official Apple Self Repair Program.
If you are going for a third party battery, then you should avoid sites which do not clearly inform you about compatibility as it probably means the parts you are about to purchase are going to be of poor quality. In fact the quality of most third party Lithium-ion batteries is extremely poor. If you want to perform the battery replacement yourself, then the best option for a third party Lithium-ion battery is from OWC or iFixIt. Both sites provide very easy methods of identifying the correct part needed for each Mac and they also provide easy to follow instructions with OWC even providing video instructions for many upgrades.
Keep in mind when replacing a Lithium-ion Battery yourself, that you need to make sure to store it safely so it is not accidentally punctured. Plus you need to have it properly recycled at a hazardous waste electronics recycling center.

No. They are two totally different interns architectures.
Thanks for the reply. Do you think another battery, labelled as per below, would work? (I'm unsure whether there are different 2017 models.)
Replacement Laptop Battery for Apple MacBook Air 13 inch A1466(Mid 2012, Mid 2013, Early 2014, Early 2015,2017) A1369(Late 2010, Mid 2011 Version) 7200mAh,fits A1496 A1405 A1377 [New Upgraded 3.0]
Good to know. The self-repair link I followed from the Apple site only offers "MacBook Air M1 2020" and Pros. So I'm stuck!
