Ventura 13.3.1 issue with Avermedia Live Gamer Ultra GC553

It seems like the video capture with GC553 will have very choppy motion since Ventura 13.3 at resolution 1920x1080. It was working fine on 13.2 or before. I even tried to do a fresh install of 13.3 and still have the same choppy motion capture issue with nothing install.

To illustrate the problem, you can see how choppy it is when you try to use *any* capture software with GC553, it will be like this https://streamable.com/cuyraz It's like outputting 5fps.

I was using a good brand USB 3.2Gen 2x1 10Gbps type c to type A cable connecting to GC553 and it was working fine on Mac Studio M1 since day 1. Recently when I upgraded the Mac Studio to Ventura 13.3.1 , something got to be changed on how USB A slot works. Using the same USB cable no longer works and it will become very choppy when capturing video. I have to change to a type c to type c cable in order to get the GC553 to capture without having those choppy issue.

I am not sure if this is Mac Studio specific, but I suspect any Mac that comes with USB A slot might have the same issue.

Hello DerekLeung,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. You've done an excellent job by isolating this behavior with the Type C to Type A Cable. Since this behavior only occurs with this specific cable that was included with Live Gamer ULTRA - GC553, we recommend to contact Avermedia to assist you. Here's the link to contact them as they can review this further for you: Contact Us AVerMedia

Kind regards.
