If you have a compatible iPhone, follow these steps to set up Touch ID:

1. Make sure your hands are clean and dry.

2. Open the 'Settings' app on your iPhone.

3. Scroll down and tap on 'Touch ID & Passcode.'

4. Enter your passcode if prompted.

5. Under the 'Fingerprints' section, tap on 'Add a Fingerprint.'

6. Place your finger (usually the thumb) on the Home button, but don't press it. Just rest your finger on it lightly.

7. The device will begin scanning your fingerprint. You will feel a vibration and see the fingerprint animation on the screen fill up with red color as it captures your print.

8. Lift your finger and place it back on the Home button when prompted. Repeat this step until the process is complete. Make sure you slightly change the position of your finger each time to capture the entire fingerprint.

9. Once the scanning process is complete, tap on 'Continue.'

10. You can now use Touch ID to unlock your iPhone, authorize Apple Pay transactions, or make App Store purchases.

If you have a newer iPhone model (iPhone X and later) without a Home button, you'll be using Face ID instead.

Please let me know if that solved your problem, or if you need the directions for Face ID.
