my iphone 14 not scanning libre 2 sensor for diabetis

I have updated my phone with the new updates IOS version 16.4.1 and i am still having issues, is there a chip issue or an issue with NFC with the iphone 14 cause it was working in November and then just stopped, the sensor is working as i tried my husbands iphone 11 and it worked with that, this is very frustrating and can't get an answer why from freestyle libre so i am hoping that you can assist.

My iPhone SE (2nd generation) stopped scanning my Freestyle Libre 2 sensor earlier this week. It’s recently updated to iOS 16.4.1; but I can’t remember if there was exact coincidence of the update and the scanning problem.

Not only is the iPhone not scanning the glucose sensor; the Near Field Communication isn’t working at all, eg. for Apple Pay. I’ve had it checked in the Apple Store as well and the NFC isn’t working. So either there is a hardware problem with the NFC chip, or some incompatibility between the Free Libre app and iOS has disabled the NFC chip.

After much analysis, at the store it was determined that the new IOS 16.6 has made my NFC Reader on my Iphone which reads the Freestyle Libre 2 sensor to not work. It's possible that the new IOS has a bug that makes the NFC Reader inoperable. Appears that it is possible that this is making the NFC Reader to not work on Apple Pay as well. It definitely appears that it could be an issue with the new updates corrupting the NFC Reader hardware on the phone. Apple and Abbott should work together on this issue!!

I don’t know if it’s your phone or the latest iOS or the app that Abbott needs to update? I recently trialled a dexcom sensor, which worked well with my iPhone 13 and the latest iOS 16.4.1. However, not wanting to waste my stock of Freestyle Libre 2 sensors. I started using them up. Straight away I had problems. Having updated iOS in between the Dexcom & Freestyle sensors.

Firstly the iPhone wouldn’t scan the new sensor. So I rang Abbott’s, who were no help but said they would replace the sensor. I tried various solutions and eventually got it to work, by turning my iPhone off completely, and back on. Only now, the alarms don’t work! I also believe the latest Freestyle Libre 3, isn’t compatible with iPhones. Abbott need to talk to Apple about their iOS updates, or fix their own software. People will start to move over to Dexcom, if it’s not resolved asap. I know this is no help, only I feel your frustration as well.

Hey, I have also had this issue it all boils down to the software the iPhone 14 when it upgraded it left the Libre 3 app behind. It’s not compatible anymore so I had to go out and buy the reader by the time I found all that out I had used three sensors, thinking that was the problem and it wasn’t shame on Abbott for not informing us. This would happen shame on Abbott And no one at the customer service they call them technical support can help you either

I have an iPhone 11, but the issue is the same with all phones trying to use Libre 2. Abbott is now 10 months behind Apple in updating its software. Some people blame Apple, but I lay the blame at the feet of Abbott. Any time one updates iOS, including security updates, all the Libre 2 SW does is say the iOS update is incompatible with it. I've stopped calling Libre 2 support . . . maybe Apple can come out with its own CGM? :)

My iPhone has a case on it, but scanning is not my issue - out-of-date Libre 2 software is. Every time I update my iOS, I get a message saying the OS on my phone has not been tested for compatibility with the Libre 2 app (last updated 1 year ago) I've called their customer service, and all they say is to go back to iOS 16.0 (can't do). I won't sacrifice my phone's security for an app Freestyle won't update . . .

When you read the write up by App developer on these app, none of these apps show compatibility with the iOS Health App.

FreeStyle Libre 3 – US on the App Store

FreeStyle Libre 2 - US on the App Store

FreeStyle LibreLink - US on the App Store

At the same time the Blood Glucose Section in the Health shows few Apps and Freestyle Libre is not one of them.
