I downloaded a live video from facebook and imported it into iMovie to edit. The video is fine, the audio cut out in places through the video. The original video audio is good, it uploads perfectly in other editing software it's just iMovie where the audio cuts out in places and becomes choppy. I updates iMovie and nothing changed. Any help appreciated.
iMovie is a bit more sensitive to slight variations in format than some other apps.
Try using the free download, Handbrake, to convert the clips to Mp4/AAC, that Handbrake will do by default. The conversion is done to correct any format, audio/sync issues, frame rate and rendering issues. Then import the converted clips into iMovie and see if they play the audio smoothly.

A simple way to do it is to open Handbrake and do a File/Open Source. Navigate to your video and choose it as the source from the resulting screen. Then do File/Start Encoding. Wait a couple of minutes for the conversion to complete. Then save and import the converted clip into iMovie.
