Why does my iPad auto-lock keeps defaulting back to two minutes?

Can something please, please, please be done about auto-lock! No matter what I do it keeps defaulting back to two minutes. It is absolutely maddening. I’m an invalid and sometimes it takes me more than two minutes to complete a task. The #@%# machine shuts down and I have to restart it. Then it happens again and again. I’ve gone into settings countless times, first selecting “15 min.” and then later selecting “never”. This apparently doesn’t work because when I come back the next day it’s set on “2 min.” again. Often I can’t change the time and have to go into battery to shut off “low battery mode” to extend my time. It should be noted that I didn’t enable “low battery mode” to begin with! Why does my iPad keep doing this? I got the iPad to help me with daily chores and some amusement, but this situation is hardly amusing. It is making my life MORE difficult rather than easier.

If you enable Low Power mode, amongst other power-saving measures, the iPad will set Auto Lock to two minutes. However, when you disable Low Power mode, the previous Auto Lock setting should be restored.

If your iPad is behaving differently, something isn’t as it should be. Ensure that you have updated your iPad to the most recent version of iPadOS - currently iPadOS 16.4.1.

If you have already updated to this version, perform a forced-restart of your iPad - as this will often clear an isolated software issue:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)

Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
