16.5.1, battery drain, and autolock - related?

Since this won't let me reply, I'll try again. I noticed after the 16.5.1 upgrade my ipad battery started draining from 95% to 1% overnight with the screen off and wanted to know why. I saw that the home and lock screens were 65% of the drain. I had set autolock to never. But at night I turn the screen off and still at 95% to 80% I don't charge it overnight. Evidentally the ipad thinks it's still displaying all night, even with the screen off? And no notifications. I set autolock back to 5 minutes and will see tonight if that was the reason for the battery drain. I guess even though the screen is off, autolock still has to tell it internally that the screen is off?

If you are experiencing unusual behaviour after performing a system software update, try a forced-restart - as this will often clear an isolated software issue:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)

Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.

If you continue to experience difficulties, you may need to seek assistance directly from from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page. Alternatively, you can initiate and manage your support cases using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed on your iPad, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:
