How do I set Apple Maps to avoid unpaved roads when driving?

Apple Maps avoiding highways My iPhone 11 Pro recently started avoiding highways in the Apple Maps app. I have checked all my settings and none are toggled to avoid them. My software is up to date. I’ve turned off my device and turned it back on. How do I fix this?

Map not avoiding restricted areas For some reason Maps isn't acknowledging restricted areas where vehicles without a permit aren't permitted to travel. If there is an alternative road where there are no restrictions, why would it just not choose this? By trying to take me down some shortcut route which I didn't know was only for residents of that area, i've now got over £200 worth of penalties.
