Recovery from Rebuild?

Here's a fun glitch. I wanted to get information on the Rebuild function in Mail, so I selected the Help Menu and typed "rebuild". Up came "Menu Item: Rebuild" and when I clicked on that....it rebuilt my inbox, thus wiping out about 90 days worth of emails. Great. Not exactly the kind of "help" I was looking for.

Anybody know if that mail is at all recoverable? And I'll save you time--it ain't on the server.

Rebuild does not synchronize with the server, but earlier you said you had tried to sync accounts? That does not sync messages, but only the account settings. If that resulted in setting up a new account, then the existing one might be lost. In the finder, in the Mail folder, did you find more than one POP account folder that appears to relate to Yahoo?

This topic is very old, inactive for almost 4 years. It's also in the forum for Mac OS X 10.6, and you're using 10.10. You're not likely to find help here. Go to the Yosemite forum and ask your question there:

I'll warn you, though, that you're not likely to find much help. Your mailbox was probably corrupt, and without backups, there may not be a way to recover. However, a Mail guru may be able to come up with a solution I can't.
