Apple Pay

Apple Pay today went weird. Needed to make a payment through ApplePay, had it all setup and had been using earlier today and worked fine. Transferred money from bank account to ApplePay wallet and waited several minutes before sending funds to established end person. I sent the funds to end user and in my account the receipt said Completed and Sent. But then enduser came back saying the transaction I had just sent was flagged as Failed. But in my Wallet it says the amount was sent and the balance is $0. How the end user received a notification concerning this and I didn't is beyond me. Any help would be appreciated.
