ELTIMA popup after update to Ventura

Has anyone been successful in finding a comprehensive removal tool for this? I noted a 2020 posting suggesting this but no responses since then. Anything new?

Look for files from Eltima, and any of the products it makes at the web site you posted, in these locations.

  • Start up in Safe Boot mode - How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support
  • Remove any Eltima related files from Applications folder, if any.
  • Go to Finder > Go > Go to Folder. Enter "~/Library/LaunchAgents" (without quotes including ~). Delete all files in there unless you know of its specific purpose. I have no files in there.
  • Go to Finder > Go > Go to Folder. Enter "/Library/Application Support" (without quotes and no ~). Remove any folders related to Eltima or its products.
  • Go to Finder > Go > Go to Folder. Enter "/Library/LaunchDaemons" (without quotes and no ~). Remove any folders related to Eltima or its products. I only have Adobe,Apple,Oracle, and Zoom files here.
  • Go to Finder > Go > Go to Folder. Enter "/Library/LaunchAgents" (without quotes and no ~). Remove any files related to Eltima or its products. I only have a single Adobe file here.
  • Go to Finder > Go > Go to Folder. Enter "/Library/StartupItems" (without quotes and no ~). Remove any programs here that should not start on launch. I don't have any files here.
  • Restart computer normally to exit Safe Mode.

Don't overlook your Application folder, as any file in there can contain a resource file that shows up in the Allow to run in the background section you noted.

Hi Dave,

The best steps to remove any app from your Mac can be found here: Uninstall apps on your Mac - Apple Support

Should you have any additional questions or concerns we recommend contacting the app developer directly: How to contact an app developer - Apple Support

Contact the developer of a macOS app
1. Open the App Store on your Mac.
2. Click the sign-in button  or your photo.
3. A list of apps appears. Click the app that you want. If you can't find the app, use the search bar.
4. The app's product page appears. Click Support or App Support. If you don't see Support or App Support, make sure that you're signed in with the correct Apple ID.

Take care.

Unfortunately, Jim, the item seems to be not locatable by doing a search for "eltima" and from what I've read, it's a "helper" from an earlier version of the Mac OS. I'd not heard of nor seen it prior to installing Ventura (13.3, my first bump from Monterrey). Now it pops up a message to "allow" it about once or twice a day or after a restart.

It does show up where you suggested (I'd "discovered" it there when I was setting up Ventura for the first time and denied it "background updates"). I can't see how to remove it.

In the meantime, I'm following Drew_7's advice for uninstalling. I'll let you know what happens.

Hi Drew,

Followed the Apple Support instructions and as I suspected, it's not an "app" per se...

I'd not seen it before this week when I moved to a 2023 M2 16" Macbook Pro. It appears in the "allow to run in background"... this was the first time I was aware it was on my machine.

If I look up "eltima", there's this listing (https://mac.eltima.com/), as well as tech replies back as far as 2020 which note the same issue I've mentioned (https://forum.shadow.tech/technical-assistance-7/eltima-driver-pop-up-since-big-sur-update-1678) and of course, an old thread here (I keep getting this message pop up: "Plea… - Apple Community).

While this has all been helpful, nothing yet has resolved the issue... Fortunately, it doesn't cause a crash or something truly intrusive but the less extraneous code, the less likely we'll have difficulty.
