Audio messages not working in iMessage

I no longer have the option to record audio messages to iOS users. Any help? The record button at the bottom is gone. This is what it used to look like:

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 16

Open the apps (using the “A-like” symbol near the camera to the left of your screenshot) and use this symbol instead.
