iMessage voice recording static

whenever I record a voice message in iMessage, I get an overlay of static along with the message. I have used voice memo and I’m able to record properly and it won’t have any static but when I go back to iMessage and try to record it does the static thing again, whereas if I’m in Instagram or Facebook, all those voice memos come out perfectly fine

I did all of these steps and my iMessage audio messages are still giving me a static feedback noise. None of these steps worked or helped at all.

Hello WayneW093,

We would like to see how we can help you with your microphones not working as expected. Follow the steps in this link and get back to us with your results: If the microphones on your iPhone aren't working - Apple Support

"If people can't hear you on phone or FaceTime calls

  1. Open the Voice Memos app.
  2. Tap the Record button , speak at the bottom of your phone, then stop the recording.
  3. When you play back the memo, you should hear your voice clearly.

If people can't hear you when you're using speakerphone

  1. Open the Camera app.
  2. Record a video while speaking at the top of your iPhone.
  3. Tap the camera chooser  to switch to the other camera. Then record another video while speaking at the top of your iPhone.
  4. When you play back the videos, you should hear your voice clearly.

If the microphone doesn't work in a specific app

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone.
  2. Make sure that the app is enabled.
  3. If the app has permission to access your microphone, or if it isn't listed, contact the app developer."

Cheers!

Hi WayneW093,

If you haven't done so yet, restart your iPhone. Although simple, this step can help correct some unexpected issues. It's also a good idea to make sure your iPhone is running the latest iOS version, since this can help with overall performance: Update your iPhone or iPad

If an update is available, be sure to create a backup before installing it.

1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

Regards.
