Macbook pro and Apple display clamshell mode

Hello,

I just purchased a 16" Macbook Pro and Apple Studio Display. I tend to use it in clamshell mode, and I wondered if it's possible to turn the Macbook on when in clamshell mode connected to the display without having to remove it from the stand, open it, power on, close it and then reconnect.

I know how to do it and that you have to be connected to power when doing this, but I was wondering if connecting it to power could potentially cause issues with battery health along the line. Does a MacBook Pro display need to stay open when using an Apple studio display or can I closed the MacBook Pro display do to only use the Studio display? I think it's possible if it is mirror mode as I understand.
