In Pages Copying one ruler settings in copy and paste keeping that setting and not changing the other documents setting

This is a copy and paste in Pages to Pages on the same Mac.

It will be consolidating three documents. With the continuous downgrading of Pages functions like not being able to find-replace Paragrah-Tab-Return-Sytle-font et al. nor being able to any longer able to copy ruler settings, I am stumped.

My first page is a 2 column single page, the second 2 pages are an outline, third is manuscript.

All these have different ruler settings. If I copy past and match style the 2 columns are gone. If I just copy paste, I get the first part in a text box in the center of the page.

Is there some odd key command that lets me copy a ruler setting?

All of this was possible in older versions of Pages. I guess functionality is not as near as important as a new app icon and upgraded emoji. I have been using Macs going on 35 years. I am finding this bewildering.

Thanks in advance.

You cannot copy ruler settings, nor 2-column layout from one Pages word processing style document to another. Not as copy/paste style, nor by dragging a text clipping of that 2-column layout across onto the new, blank Pages document window.

However, if you started with a Pages blank layout template, inserted a Text box, pasted your first page into an appropriately sized Text box, and then made that Text box 2-column, then one could right-click on that pages thumbnail, choose copy, and then in another Pages document opened as a blank layout template, you could right-click on its first thumbnail and choose paste. Your two column content from the first document is preserved in the new page layout document.
