iPhone 14Pro overheats charging in car

I use my iphone 14pro for google maps and Waze while driving. It has to be plugged into the usb in the car to use and constantly now overheats to the point that its stops charging (I don’t necessarily need it to charge… use connect to my car.). Why does it overheat and what could be the reason? I changed the cords a few times and used an official apple cord and still overheats.

No. At first I thought that was it but then I moved it to under the radio in a cubby. I changed the cord twice thinking it was the cord. I use the phone for GPS and also Bluetooth phone calls. Today the phone got hot quicker and I moved it to the back seat (where there is a “c” charge port instead of the USB ). It did get warm but not as much as when it was plugged in front. To sum it up… the phone doesn’t get hot when I charge it in the house.

It’s ether the phone or the car port but since there isn’t much info out there I’m truly stuck
