ipad pro and MacOS

I have a late 2015 end-of-life iMac (no further updates except security) Monterey 12.6.5, and an iPad Pro at level 16.4.1 from the same year. One, as I said is not SW upgradable. The iPad is up to latest levels.

The iPad will not be recognized by the iMac. Is this because of the SW level inconsistencies?

macOS 12 Monterey syncs just fine with iPadOS 16.4.1, using Finder.

Item 3 of the above link, "If your computer doesn't recognize ... " helped.

I plugged it in directly before, but apparently missed "Trust this computer ... "

There was a software download on the Mac. Not even a boot or Finder relaunch.

I knew it had something to do with SW levels, it ceased working after iPadOS

went to 16.

Thanks for the tips.
