Fall detection working?
My mother fell last week and broke her hip. Her series 7 cellular Apple Watch did not register a fall. Fall detection is on. What’s the problem?

Appears a lot of people experiencing they same problem, all the response we get is the common response of ''Apple Watch cannot detect all falls'' . But hard falls where someone is unconscious, and the fall detection doesn't register when someone isn't moving. Surely shows that there is a major issue with one of the major advertised features of these watches !!

Fall detection is on. It didn’t register. I have tried to get it to detect a fall by faking a fall and by dropping phone and nothing registers. Mom took hard fall and nothing. Frustrating.
Hello janetfromroseburg,
We'd be happy to provide you with some information. If you'd like to learn more about Fall Detection on your Apple Watch, check this out: Use Fall Detection with Apple Watch - Apple Support
Apple Watch cannot detect all falls. Your watch might detect high-impact activity as a fall and trigger Fall Detection.
Thanks.

I'd like to mention that last year my watch detected a number of high impact events and alerted me. Only one of those events was a fall. If I think I may create a high impact event (like using a hammer or digging in hard soil) I turn off the detection. In the last several months I have experienced a number of high impact events and have not been alerted. I suspect due to false alarms they have decreased the sensitivity of "high impact". Today I was on a ladder and fell, hitting the ground and my head with an impact that previously would have triggered an alert. Today there was nothing and the reason I'm even here is because I'm checking to find more info on fall detection. The false alarms were annoying, the lack of alarm for a real even is concerning. I do recognize the difficulty in detecting a 'real' event.
