Too big mailbox ?

Hi

I have a iphone 13 with 128 GB storage. All storage is not used.

My mail app is not updating emails as push messages any longer. It’s set up to update with push. I need to close the email app down - and open it again to get new messages into my mailbox.

Sometimes it shows blank fields - with just a blue dot. So I know a new email has been received- but I cant see who it is from or any text.

Then I have to close and open the app - 3-4 times before I can see the new email. its often just a complete blank screen the first 2-3 times I open the app.

The search function is not working. If I log into the actual email programs directly - I can easily find the emails.

Is it because my mail box is too big ?

Is there a maximum amount of GBs allowed for the mail app?

Or are the emails in the mail box too old (15-20 years)

If it’s too big- is there a way to avoid synchronizing with email programs all the way back 15-20 years. Maybe just sync 1 or 2 year back - if that would help ?

I hope that you can help me, so I can get a mail program that is working and updating emails again.

Thanks

BR

Which email account are you referring to is not clear from your post. Google, iCloud, AOL, Exchange, Outlook, Yahoo or any Other

For email, this is called Push / Fetch Settings. You may know that there are two settings (Fetch and Push Mails). What have you set? Watch the GIF below

Google, AOL, Yahoo - Only the Fetch mail Option is available

iCloud, Exchange, Outlook - Both Fetch and Push Mail option is available

  1. Push Mail: Whenever possible the email client will push emails to all your devices.
  2. Fetch Mail: You need to set How you want it to be fetched, Automatically, Manually, Hourly, Every 30 mins, every 15 mins
    1. Automatically: will fetch when the iPhone is powered and on WiFi
    2. Manually: with fetch when you open email, open Inbox and swipe down
    3. You get an email notification as soon as the client-server receives an email and your device is connected to the internet, irrespective of whether the mail is in your device's Inbox or not

Hi.

Thanks for your answer.

It’s setup correctly. It has been working without problems for many years.

It’s the apple mail app on the iphone that is not working any longer.

It’s just recently the mail program just seems it cannot cope with the mails. So I was wondering “can the mailbox bee too big”

And can I fix it without deleting emails in the various email accounts.
