Folders and albums in iOS photos

Is there a way to put similar photo albums into one folder? For example, I have created photo albums on iPhone/iPad for each holiday by year, and for travel/trips. Can all holidays move into a folder titled ‘Holidays’ or ‘2021’?

Moving photo albums into photo folders I can create & name a new folder. I can create and name a new album inside that folder. And I can select photos to put into this new album. But I have 10,000+ photos and several dozen albums. I want to move existing albums into a new folder. There’s no way to do it! You can right click on an album and rename or delete it. But you can’t move it (into a folder). The functionality simply hasn’t been set up! The idea of creating a new album inside a folder and moving photos into it one by one is beyond ludicrous. Customizing Photos app and separating album photos from library in iPhone 16 I upgraded from an iPhone X to an iPhone 16 recently. (Ideally I would like to selectively go through and decide which new features I want in my photos app one by one but I know that is hoping for too much). Is there any control over the layout and functionality of the photos app that I should know about? I like that in this new version, I can finally rearrange the order albums appear in the 'Albums' tab. But I would like to know if I can have a picture in an album without it also existing in my 'Library' (general photos collection). For example, if I take pictures of my notes or books or something that I want to remember or send to someone or catalogue in a 'favorite books' album or something, I probably don't want those ugly pictures of text and whatever mucking up my general photos filled with nice looking things like places I've been, family, food and snapshots of my daily life. This seems like a basic functionality that almost anyone would want to be able to do and would be easy to program too, so I'm curious if there is a way for me to do that that I'm just not seeing. Move photos from the library into albums so they are out the library and organised. I have thousands of photos and I want to organise them into albums. Ideally I’d want the photo to move to the album so it comes out my library. I can then see which photos have been organised and avoid duplications. My plan is then to share these albums with my children when they have iPhones. But when you move a photo into an album it is still in the library so I don’t know which photos I’ve organised and I’m essentially duplicating everything is there a way around this?

Hello 6746,

It sounds like you want to add more than one album to a folder in the Photos app on your iPhone. If we understand what you hope to accomplish correctly, you should be able to with the steps from this article: Edit and organize albums on iPhone - Apple Support

Organize albums in folders

1. Tap Albums, then tap +.

2. Choose New Folder.

3. Name the folder, then tap Save.

4. Open the folder, tap Edit, then tap + to create a new album or folder inside the folder.

One you are at the step to create a new album inside of the folder, you can title it 'Holiday'. Then, you'll have the option to add the photos you want, or tap on the Albums tab to add your already created albums. Reply back if you get stuck or have any other questions.
