Need Advice on Comparing MacBooks for My Purposes

Hi there,

I am trying to compare and see which laptop might be the better of the two for my purposes, or if neither of these would cut it. The reason I ask is that I am currently using a 2018 MacBook Air which often feels bogged down and slow, but I may have access to a 2020 MacBook Air. I'm just not sure if moving to the 2020 will be better, worse, or no difference.

Here are the specs for each:

My current 2018:

MacBook Air (Retina, 13-inch, 2018)

1.6 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5

16 GB 2133 MHz

Intel UHD Graphics 617

256GB Flash Storage (half of this is free)

The 2020:

Apple M1

8G GB Memory

500GB Flash Storage

My typical work day includes having a number of browser windows open at a time (10+) as well as a few applications. I do a lot of image editing with photoshop, the occasional video edit, and a lot of web editing in Shopify. Any advice is appreciated!

Hi, Schaljo, about the only thing I can tell you that MacBooks are not upgradeable at all after you’ve bought them, as they are all built-to-order- that goes for RAM, storage, everything,( if you were to buy one New) you might want to check out the Certified Refurbished Section of the Apple Store… depends on your computing needs+ and definitely your budget
