iMac 27″ with macOS 10.14 stuck in boot loop

I have tried all the steps to get my Mac to boot but it gets to the apple logo and the bar shows it loading. It gets half way through and stops. Then a box appears and says to push any key. When I do that it goes blank and then starts over again. I have tried to reinstall the OS but it cannot find the HD. I don't want to erase everything because I have stuff that is irreplaceable. I would hope to get it going again. Any suggestions.

Mount the Drive:

Boot into Recovery Mode. (Silicon Chip or Intel Clip). Then, using Disk Utility, see if the Hard Drive is seen. If it is, then see if you need to click the “Mount’ button for it. Try rebooting once more. If of no success, then click unmount button, and then the mount button. Try rebooting once more.
