Can’t get rid of on-screen keyboard when using bluetooth keyboard. Already tried previous reccomendations.

Hi, I use a Microsoft Designer Keyboard and mouse with my new iPad Pro.

Everything pairs fine, but I cannot make the on screen keyboard go away when I use the bluetooth keyboard, even though the external kepboard works fine. I have turned off “Show On-Screen Keyboard” under assistive touch. Doesn’t work. I have also tried on “Full Keyboard Access”, but that ends up disabling some of my keys like the space keys. Help please?

Hi SMBAUS,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! Do other external keyboard work with your iPad? If you unpair, and pair the keyboard using the steps below does the issue remain:

Set up and use Bluetooth accessories on iPad

Pair a Bluetooth headphone, keyboard, game controller, or other device
1. Follow the instructions that came with the device to put it in discovery mode.
2. Note: To pair AirPods, see the instructions for your model in the “Pair and connect” section in the AirPods User Guide.
3. On iPad, go to Settings  > Bluetooth, turn on Bluetooth, then tap the name of the device.
iPad must be within about 33 feet (10 meters) of the Bluetooth device.

Unpair a Bluetooth device
Go to Settings  > Bluetooth, tap the information button  next to the name of the device, then tap Forget This Device.

Thank you.
